Lets get 'Naked'!

So the Urban Decay Naked Palette has been talked about over and over again but i'm new to this blogging thing so thought I would jump on the bandwagon...why not!? Better late than never eh?

I have had it for quite a few months now so sadly its not all shiny and new but more well loved!
Mine came with the primer potion and the urban decay double ended eyeliner with black in; zero and brown in; whiskey. I believe they now come with a brush instead though.
So here it is and I really do love and use all of the colours. I am a very neutral eyeshadow person, I would love to be daring and have the nerve to rock some crazy eye colours as there are some gorgeous colours available but i'm just not brave enough. That said this is the perfect neutral eye palette because although its neutral it is by no means boring! The majority of the shades contain quite a bit of shimmer with the exception of Naked and Buck
The 12 different shades give you the ability to create lots of very different looks and on a day to day basis this is all I really need in terms of eye shadow. Very handy if you are going away somewhere too.
This is a swatch of all the eyeshadows on my arm over urban decay's primer potion. I have tried it both with and without the primer and the primer really does bring out the colour and improve its staying power. I use these shadows regular on nights out which can include hours of some crazy dancing :S and I can safely say I have no problems with creasing or it rubbing off at all, I was very impressed!
From Left to Right the Colours are;
  • Virgin
  • Sin
  • Naked
  • Sidecar
  • Buck
  • Half Baked
  • Smog
  • Darkhorse
  • Toasted
  • Hustle
  • Creep
  • Gunmetal

Although I feel the camera may have blended the colours together a bit ( more than they were in real life) I used Toasted on the whole lid, Hustle as a crease colour, Virgin on my inner corners and Sin blended up to my brow bone as a highlight. I also dusted a bit of half baked over the entire lid as this is very shimmery and I like the added bit of sparkle!
With the flash on after I lined my eye with L'oreal's super liner carbon gloss (which I love!) and used Maybelline's ' The Falsies volum' express' (again one of my favourites)
Here I did a bit more of a dramatic smokey eye look using; gunmetal all over the lid, creep in the crease, side car blended in from the inner corner and sin blended up to the brow bone.

To complete this look I would probably have added urban decays black liner in Zero and smudged it out to give a heavy smokey eye look.

Over all I love this Palette (I am in no way affiliated with this product or company and it was purchased with my own money) and I think that the pigmentation is fantastic and the colours would be great for everyone. A thumbs up from me!

Hope you enjoyed

Rachel Bilson Look

I absolutely love Rachel Bilson's style, I think she manages to always keep it quite simple and classic whilst keeping very on trend. Although I would love to have her wardrobe sadly I cannot afford the designer prices so I thought I would try to recreate a couple of her looks with High Street options.

Key pieces in her outfit here are; a simple black blazer (something useful that can be worn time and time again), floral print maxi dress, statement gold necklace and cream/white clutch bag. These are all items that can be mixed and matched and I feel could get lots of wear out of them.
 H&M- £14.99 (now on sale for £7.49)

New Look- £24.99

ASOS Statement Folded Metal Bib Necklace
£35.00
ASOS Curved Horn Collar
£18.00
Miss Selfridge Futuristic Collar £16.50

Although I could not find a necklace with exactly the same detailing I think any gold statement necklace would be perfect and there are plenty available, the 3 above i particularly like.

H&M- £14.99
Asos-Minkpink Girlfriend Floral Button Front Maxi Dress
£68.00
Rachel's maxi dress works well with her outfit because it is light and very flowing and although she has paired it with a black blazer the floral print keeps it summery.

Accessorize- VINTAGE FRAME CLUTCH BAG

£25.00

River Island- cream snake skin print clutch bag.
£24.99
I also found that clutch bags similar to these were very readily available but I think these two would work well in particular because of the gold detailing that would match perfectly with the necklace.

The second outfit I chose of Rachel Bilson's to recreate was one that could en corporate the versatility of the black blazer used in the last outfit. As with her last look it is something that can be worn during a summery day with flats or sandals and then dressed up in the evening simply by adding some heels, nice bag and a simple jacket to keep you nice and toasty!

Asos

Im sure Rachel wears real leather shorts but with a trend like this who knows how long it will last, for me a much better option is the PU leather look shorts which a more affordable and available in many high street shops.
ASOS SHIMMY Pointed Court Shoe
£35.00

Zara- BASIC COURT SHOE

29.99

ALPNA VINTAGE CLUTCH BAG

£25.00

These black heels and clutch bag are something that would be very versatile in any wardrobe. They will not go out of fashion in a hurry and are definitely worth investing in to make an outfit more evening appropriate, they also work perfectly with the leather look shorts.

I really like the simplicity of both of these outfits and think they are very wearable not just for celebrities and the likes of Rachel Bilson! Keep a look out for my quest to find more celebrity looks at affordable prices.

Hope you enjoyed!

Colour Blocking....Nails

Im sure you've all heard of the colour blocking trend, the lovely clashing of bright colours popular for spring/summer 2011. Its bright fun and I love it!

You can find it in clothes....

Bags.....

Shoes and accessories....

So I tried nails.....

Whilst I admit its not the neatest thing in the world, I do think it is quite fun...perhaps not one for the office. I think this look is great if you are wearing something slightly plainer but would still like to keep up with the trend in one way or another. Also, if like me you find fiddly things a little challenging, I also tried this;

Its very summery and great for those of you who like me are very indecisive when you have all these pretty colours in front you so instead of picking one....use them all! Perfect.
